Alpine Echoes of Culture

These 3 representative pictures capture moments from my journey across Switzerland, where I explored the Cantons of Ticino, Luzern, and Zürich through their historical heritage and natural wonders.

In this order:

1. Lake Lucerne: the Essence of Switzerland in One Frame

From the deck of a nearby boat, the Swiss flag dances in the wind, mirrored by the calm waters of Lake Lucerne. Behind it, the Alps rise as silent guardians of the country, where cities and crystalline basins lay, embraced by their protective hug. This single picture gathers the essence of Switzerland, where nature and culture intertwine in a timeless dialogue between mountains, lakes and people.

2. The Reuss River: A Floral Embrace of History and the Town’s  Flowing Soul

An old balustrade stands above the flowing Reuss, carrying centuries of stories. Draped in blossoms, it frames Lucerne’s historic heart with a touch of living color. Here, the sturdy,  eternal stone of the parapet and the decorated facades of buildings meet the energetic force of water, symbolising life, the flow of time, and change. The mortal and ephemeral nature of flowers adorns the scene, of which we eagerly grasp their highest vibrancy in their season of full splendor. A seemingly paradoxical world of harmony in the quarrel between stone and water, eternal and ephemeral, life and death…

    3. The Chinese Garden of Zurich: a Bridge Beyond Borders

Nestled within Zurich, a delicate Chinese garden unfolds: a serene corner of the Far East in the Alpine world. Switzerland’s cultural harmony extends beyond its German, Italian, French, and Romansh identities, embracing a global spirit. This garden is more than an exotic escape: it is a symbol of dialogue between traditions, a bridge between long-established communities and newcomers. The beauty blossoms in our meeting, discovering our differences while walking together on the common trail of life, carrying and sharing our cultural backpacks on our shoulders, shaping our malleable identities.
