What is Yoalin?
YOALIN – short for Youth Alpine Interrail – is a project of the CIPRA Youth Council and CIPRA International that started in 2018. It enables 100 selected young people to travel sustainably across the Alps by means of public transport in the summer of 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2021.
What’s it about?
The goal is to show you the adventurousness, the comfort, the practicality and the fun of holidays by train and the beauty of the alpine countries. By slowing down the journey and travelling by train there is more time to get to know the places and people along the route. Young people living in the Alps and beyond between the ages of 18 and 27 could apply for the Youth Alpine Interrail Passes.
Due to the Covid-19-pandemic unfortunately in 2020 travelling with this special Youth Alpine Interrail-Pass through the Alps was not possible. For 2021 we worked out a new concept with train vouchers for travelling in a single country. 2022 alpine wide travel should again be possible without restrictions. Check the FAQs for more information!
Above all YOALIN is a great community, that shares values on travel and sustainability in the best way, that is with direct experience.
Yoalin is a new way of travelling, a beautiful and dynamic community, an opportunity to gain a different perspective and to be part of something bigger than just an individual summer of travelling.
YOALIN is for me a life-changing project. It affected my way of thinking about traveling and gave me motivation to re-think my choices.
To me, Yoalin is about seeing just how far you can go without sacrificing nature along the way.
A full breath to grasp the beauty of the Alpine region and to appreciate the slowness of a train ride! YOALIN helped me to feel even closer to the protection of the Alps and the importance of a responsible living.
Sustainable travel means for me: time for myself with the least negative impact on the environment
Yoalin is for me a freeing adventure, showing that travelling by train is fun besides being eco-friendly. And it’s an opportunity to be part of a diverse community of young Europeans supporting each other and learning from each other.
