Travelling sustainably through the Alps

Visit the palaces of Bavaria

With 45 palaces, castles and residences as well as numerous other monuments and around 80 different museums, the Bavarian Palace Department is the largest state museum authority in Germany today. In addition, there are many magnificent court gardens, palace parks, gardens and lakes to visit in Bavaria.

The Bavarian State Chancellery, in cooperation with the Bavarian Palace Administration, offers Yoalin travellers the opportunity to visit an object of the Palace Administration of their choice free of charge. The free ticket can be used from 1st July to 30th September.

In the Bavarian Alpine region alone, there are various excursion destinations, such as the palace “Neue Schloss Herrenchiemsee” and the “Augustiner-Chorherrenstift” on the Herreninsel in Lake Chiemsee, the palace “Linderhof” and the “Königshaus am Schachen” near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, as well as the famous palace “Neuschwanstein” near Füssen (reservation required).

The “Königshaus am Schachen” can also be reached by a cross-border hike from Leutasch via the Leutascher Platt and the mountain hut “Meilerhütte”, which is located directly on the Austrian-German border. From the “Königshaus” it is possible to descend to Elmau or Garmisch-Partenkirchen or even to continue the hike to the Zugspitze:
