Visit Ötzi, the Iceman

Yoalin travellers get to visit the iceman Ötzi in the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology. A limited amount of tickets are available for them from 17th June to 4th September 2022.

More than 5,000 years ago, a man climbed to the icy heights of the Schnals Valley glaciers and perished there. In 1991 he was found by chance: together with his clothes and equipment, mummified, frozen – an archaeological sensation and a unique snapshot of a Copper Age man travelling in the high mountains. Since 1998, the mummy and its restored accompanying finds have been on display in the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano.

In addition to the mummy and its original clothing and equipment, the exhibition provides an insight into life in the Copper Age, the history of research, criminal investigations and cultural phenomena surrounding the Iceman. Changing special exhibitions on the top floor highlight complementary topics on South Tyrolean archaeology.
